Having a successful life in Thailand many times means having the right partner to live you life with. Let's face it, life is about people and as much as we want to say we can live alone, most people don't want to. But you do want to attract the right people.

Many of you plan to stay in Thailand for months or even years. And some plan to stay in Thailand forever.

But did you ever stop to think about what your life looks like here in Thailand? What does your home look like? What does your day look like? Do you have your finances in order? Are you sitting at your condo or at the bar every day?

  • What kind of life are you showing to people that you want to attract?
  • Do you keep attracting the wrong person again and again?
  • And do you feel that you are constantly unlucky in love?

It's not about hacks, secrets or pickup lines.

So you might be thinking we are going to give you a set of little hacks and secrets and tips that will make you automatically seem more desirable to the next person you see while walking on the street?

Nope. Not at all.

Let’s get real, first you have to deal with the language differences. And even if you get past language, you have to deal with the cultural differences. And money will only get you in the door but not very far afterwards.

Then what is the one universal thing that attracts women to men?

Having a good and interesting life.

In the end, even if you have a 100 million baht in the bank, it does not matter if you live in an untidy apartment, watch netflix all day, sit at the bar every night and dress like a bum.

Let's get into how to do it guys!

Make your home welcoming.

The first thing to do is to make your home welcoming. It does not matter if you live in a 3,000 Baht fan apartment, or a 150,000 baht condo.

Your home has to feel “Welcoming”.

It has to be a place that a woman wants to come to and spend time at.

First, you need to have a sofa. Even if you have a studio, a separate place to sit comfortably and watch TV or talk is important. This will be the focal point as soon as your partner enters your home. Buy some colorful and comfortable cushions to go along with it too.

Make sure your fridge is stocked with simple healthful drinks and water at all times. As soon as your partner comes in, you can offer her something, or make it clear that she is free to take something whenever she wants. And keep a few fruits around.

Have nice and clean towels, soaps, extra toothbrushes and cleaning supplies in your bathroom.

Put some art and small decorations in your home. Maybe even some small plants you pickup at the shopping mall or a street vendor.

And above all, keep your place clean. Spend 650 Baht twice a month to have a cleaning company come in to keep your space clean and tidy.

Women will judge you based on how clean and welcoming your space is. If you have a space like that, she will want to come back every time.

Making your life interesting

The key to an interesting life is having activities that you do away from your partner. Even if you are married to them.

This is especially true if you are retired.

A guy that sits in his home all day then goes to the bars at night is interesting in the beginning. And many women will be drawn to the drinker who throws money around in the bar and has a condo in a nice building.

But really, that is a boring life for the guy and the girl. And it leads to cheating, constantly rotating partners and general emptiness in life. And sometimes the lady will even be looking for another guy just like him but who has more money and who goes to nicer rooftop bars.

So how to fix that?

You need to have activities and goals in your life.

  • Find a group that you can volunteer with.
  • Learn to speak, read and write Thai.
  • Take some cooking classes.
  • Develop a hobby like photography or start a youtube channel about one subject.
  • Do Muay Thai.
  • Mentor younger people.

There are literally thousands of things you can do to use your time well.

And nothing says “high value man” to a woman more than someone who is busy doing things to improve himself and his own life. Because in the end, most women wants a man who has an interesting and fulfilling life as well.

Less "Farang", more local

Another important thing you can do is to make more Thai friends and eat more Thai food.

One of the most boring things we normally hear foreigners say is that they cannot eat Thai food. Food is very important to Thai culture. It’s why people ask if “did you eat something?” all the time.

And by not being able to eat Thai food, you are literally alienating yourself from your Thai partner and friends of all genders.

Really, it’s not an excuse, because there is Thai food at all levels of spiciness and taste. And to be completely truthful, many Thai people cannot eat spicy food either.

So try to find some Thai food that suits your palate and experiment from there. It’s literally the gateway into the culture and by avoiding it, you are just making your life more difficult.

Your girlfriend is going to want to eat Thai food all the time… not foreign food.

So how do you do it?

A good way to get into Thai food is to find a morning or night  market and just buy a little bit of everything all the time.

Then go back to your home and taste each dish. This is the way you are going to find out what you like and what you don’t like.

I guarantee in a couple of weeks, you will be eating like a local if you do this.

Another deep way to get into the culture and understand your girlfriend better, is to make more Thai friends. With every interaction you will make you will just get deeper into the culture.

The cultural mistakes that you and her make will get less and less each day, because you will learn the culture not just from her, but from others too.

Stop dressing like a tourist.

Yes, we understand. You’re in paradise, so shorts and t-shirts seem like a good way to feel that way forever.

However, our own Eric, who has been here for a few years now, noticed something really interesting. Normally he wears jeans and a shirt. But one day he decided to dress like a tourist again with shorts and t-shirt and he was treated just like a tourist again.

  • The taxi turned off the meter.
  • He was given higher prices.
  • And most importantly, the kinds of women he was not interested in started to approach him.

The point is that if you start to dress “normally” as people do in the society, you will attract more “normal” girls that are not in the entertainment industry.

In this case, dressing like a tourist has distinct disadvantages.

So if you’re going to be here for a long time, try to find some more normal everyday street clothes. Save the short and the t-shirt for when you go to the beaches.

Ok guys, we have talked about making your home a welcoming place. How to have an interesting life. Do more local things and not dress like a tourist.

If you have things that worked for you as well, we would love to hear from you!

It’s just the start and we will have more content coming soon about having successful and gratifying relationships in Thailand, regardless of how long they might last.
